Marvin Mims Jr. Could be final year in Denver
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 11:16 PM
Mims acknowledged Tuesday that 2026 could be his final campaign with the Broncos, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Mims has yet to break out since being drafted in the second round in 2023, with his regular-season highwater marks being the 39 catches for 503 yards and six touchdowns he posted over 17 games in 2024. The wideout experienced a downturn in production last season despite logging a career high in offensive snaps, and Denver's acquisition of Jaylen Waddle this March pushes Mims further down the pecking order. Mims said Tuesday the combination of Waddle and Courtland Sutton will force opposing teams to have to "game plan" Denver's passing game differently, but the bottom line is that targets will be harder to come by with two highly regarded receivers on the roster. Mims has taken a positive outlook on potentially leaving the Broncos after the season, saying, "With this possibly being my last year, I'm just going to enjoy it to the fullest, going through it carefree and just play my hardest because we have a real chance to do something extremely special."
Michael Woods II
Michael Woods II Reverts to injured reserve
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 10:07 PM
Woods (leg) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Woods has been dealing with a right leg injury during the offseason program and was cut with an injury designation Tuesday. After going unclaimed on waivers, Woods will now head to Denver's injured reserve. It's very possible, even likely, that he's eventually cut with an injury settlement.
Returns from injury
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:20 PM
Walker (undisclosed) was spotted participating in Tuesday's practice, Ben Swanson of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: The 25-year-old was sidelined for all of the Broncos' 2025 campaign due to an injury, but it now appears he's moved past the issue. Expect Walker to compete for a reserve role on Denver's offensive line as the offseason progresses.
Participating in minicamp
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 3:52 PM
Bonnito (wrist) was pictured on the practice field at minicamp on Tuesday, Gabriel Christus of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Bonitto underwent a clean-up procedure on his wrist in early February, but it doesn't appear that the star pass rusher is facing any practice restrictions at mandatory minicamp. The 26-year-old has suited up for all 17 regular-season games in back-to-back years and totaled 27.5 sacks in that span.
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin On field at minicamp
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 2:10 PM
Franklin (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday at mandatory minicamp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Analysis: Franklin missed Denver's loss to New England in the AFC Championship Game due to a hamstring injury, but he now appears back to full health. The 2024 fourth-round pick totaled just 263 receiving yards as a rookie but took a sizeable step forward in 2025, with a 65-709-6 receiving line (on 104 targets) across 17 regular-season appearances. The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle earlier in the offseason, providing another alpha receiver atop the depth chart alongside Courtland Sutton, so Franklin faces increased competition for targets entering Year 3. If he can take a step forward in his development and build increased chemistry with QB Bo Nix (ankle), though, Franklin could well be the favorite for the No. 3 receiver gig over Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix Takes part in 7-on-7 drills
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 2:04 PM
Nix (ankle) participated in 7-on-7 drills at Wednesday's mandatory minicamp practice, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Nix returned to individual work at the start of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and he's already upgraded to 7-on-7 reps. While Nix, who is recovering back from offseason ankle surgery plus a follow-up procedure, isn't set to take part in 11-on-11 team drills at minicamp, he said Tuesday he could be "full-go right now if they wanted me to," as Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday that Nix will be fully cleared for the start of training camp in July.
Excused from minicamp
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 8:54 PM
The Broncos excused Cooper from this week's mandatory minicamp, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.
Analysis: "He's taking this time, obviously, he's got to work on himself,'' coach Sean Payton said Tuesday of Cooper, who was arrested twice during a seven-day span earlier this month on multiple domestic violence charges, including one felony. When asked if the Broncos planned to let the legal process conclude before a decision on Cooper's future with the team is made, Payton said: "There's a process period from the league and that involves the local law enforcement. We'll continue to gather that information.'' Regarding the linebacker's legal situation, a league spokesman said last week that the NFL was monitoring the case.
Getting work during minicamp
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 8:35 PM
Henningsen (Achilles) is participating during the Broncos' minicamp, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Henningsen sat out the entire 2025 season after tearing his Achilles during a practice in August, but it now looks like he's back in shape for football activities as minicamp kicks off. He'll be competing for a depth role on Denver's 53-man roster in 2026.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix Full-go training camp expected
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 7:53 PM
Nix, who returned to individual work during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp practice, suggested that he could be "full-go right now if they wanted me to," Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: That said, the Broncos are proceeding cautiously with their franchise QB, who is bouncing back from surgery (and a subsequent cleanup procedure to address bone spurs) to repair an ankle injury he suffered during the Broncos' Divisional Round playoff win over the Bills in January. In terms of his recovery, Nix indicated that his doctors have told him his ankle "looks good as new," while adding that he'll be "just fine" for the upcoming season. Though he'll remain limited through Denver's ongoing minicamp, coach Sean Payton reiterated Tuesday that Nix is in line to be a full practice participant when the team returns to training camp later this summer.
Headed to Mile High City
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 6:18 PM
Denver signed Fresch on Monday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Fresch has played in the UFL the past two years after finishing his collegiate career at Rice, and now he'll get a chance to make an impression at the NFL level. It will be a tall task, as the Broncos are stacked at cornerback going into the new season.
RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey Full go at minicamp
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 2:45 PM
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Tuesday that Harvey (shoulder) is a "full go" at mandatory minicamp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Analysis: Harvey underwent an offseason procedure to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, but the 2025 second-round pick already appears fully cleared for all practice activity. Payton said Harvey is having a "real good" offseason so far. Harvey projects to remain a key playmaker out of the backfield for Denver in Year 2, though he faces notable competition for touches from veteran J.K. Dobbins and rookie fourth-round pick Jonah Coleman. While suiting up for all 17 regular-season games as a rookie, Harvey rushed 146 times for 540 yards and seven touchdowns while securing 47 of 58 targets for 356 yards and another five scores.
Bo Nix

Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 2:39 PM
Nix (ankle) is participating in practice at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Broncos coach Sean Payton also stated Monday that Nix will be cleared for the start of training camp in July, per Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com. The third-year signal-caller is recovering from surgery undergone in late January to address a right ankle fracture, and he's expected to be fully healthy well in advance of the regular season. He also opted to undergo an additional cleanup procedure to address bone spurs, per Stevens. Nix has been productive as both a passer and runner through his first two NFL seasons, and Denver's addition of Jaylen Waddle gives him another significant weapon alongside Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin (hamstring), Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims and tight end Evan Engram.
RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey Bouncing back from shoulder issue
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 4:27 PM
Harvey reportedly underwent an offseason procedure to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder that he sustained during Denver's season-ending AFC Championship Game loss to New England, according to Luca Evans of The Denver Post.
Analysis: Evans also notes that while Harvey was practicing during the Broncos' OTAs, he didn't do much in the process. With that in mind, the running back's participation level in the team's upcoming mandatory minicamp, and then also in training camp, will be worth monitoring, but at this stage there's nothing to suggest his regular-season status will be impacted. Looking ahead to the coming campaign, Harvey is slated to maintain a key role in a Denver backfield committee that also is set to include J.K. Dobbins and rookie fourth-rounder Jonah Coleman.
Hakeem Butler
Hakeem Butler Joining Broncos after UFL run
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 7:55 AM
Butler agreed to a contract with the Broncos on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Denver will bring the 30-year-old pass catcher aboard after he recently concluded a stellar run with the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks. Butler took home UFL Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second time in three seasons after compiling a league-high 641 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 29 receptions over nine games in 2026. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds, Butler represents a big red-zone target who could serve in a hybrid role at receiver and tight end if he's able to secure a spot on Denver's 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. Since entering the professional ranks as a 2019 fourth-round pick of the Cardinals, Butler has appeared in just two NFL games, both of which came with the Eagles in 2020.
Facing additional serious charges
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 11:15 PM
Cooper has had additional charges of felony second-degree assault by strangulation and misdemeanor third-degree assault added to his previous charge of criminal mischief with a domestic violence enhancer, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Cooper was arrested during the evening of June 4 and made a court appearance Monday, during which he pleaded not guilty to the original charge. A trial has been scheduled for late July. Cooper has been with the Broncos during OTAs since Monday, and head coach Sean Payton said team leadership had a "long visit" with the outside linebacker in regard to the incident that spurred the legal charges. Payton added, "We'll follow the league's guidelines, and I'm sure a lot of that will be led by the local authorities' guidelines. We'll pay attention to all of it."
Bo Nix
Bo Nix In line to practice next week
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 1:37 PM
Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Nix (ankle) is expected to practice at mandatory minicamp next week, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Analysis: Nix suffered a fracture in his right ankle near the ned of the Broncos' divisional-round win against the Bills and missed the AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots. After undergoing surgery in late January, he was facing a 12-week recovery, but his on-field work during the offseason program was delayed due to a clean-up procedure that he had in late April. Payton noted Thursday that Nix participated in the walkthrough prior to Thursday's OTA, while adding that he believes Nix will be "completely clean, mobility-wise," once he's back to full health, according to Stevens. The dual threat has combined for 7,706 passing yards and 786 rushing yards in 34 regular-season games since he was selected 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Caleb Lohner
Caleb Lohner Undergoes minor procedure
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 1:57 PM
Lohner is expected to miss two weeks after undergoing a lower-body procedure, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: Klis adds that Lohner's procedure was a routine cleanup and that he'll be fully ready for training camp. The second-year tight end spent his rookie season on the Broncos' practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January. Lohner was lauded by Denver coach Sean Payton as a standout performer while participating in rookie minicamp this May, and he'll look to impress again when he's healthy this offseason.
Arrested in Colorado
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 11:53 AM
Cooper was arrested Thursday night and and booked into Douglas County Jail on a criminal mischief charge and a domestic violence enhancer, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Cooper has a court hearing scheduled for Monday morning. Per Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette, the Broncos issued the following statement: "We are aware of the matter and gathering more information." Cooper signed a four-year extension with the team in November 2024 and has two seasons remaining on his contract.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix Nearing practice return?
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 3:13 PM
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Nix (ankle) has been throwing at OTAs and will resume practicing with teammates at June minicamp, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Coming back from a broken ankle suffered during the playoffs, Nix had a minor clean-up procedure in mid-to-late April but still seems to be on track in his recovery. Payton previously mentioned June minicamp as a target date to increase Nix's participation, with the Broncos hoping their starting QB will then be a full participant at the start of training camp in late July. For now, Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger are handling Denver's QB reps while battling for the No. 2 job behind Nix.
Negotiates contract adjustment
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 7:34 PM
Denver agreed Tuesday to give Surtain a $5 million raise with an additional $5 million incentive for a Pro Bowl or All-Pro selection, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Surtain is now officially in the first year of the four-year, $96 million contract extension he signed with the Broncos back in September of 2024, so the pay bump is not a huge change. If Denver is able to again field one of football's top defenses in 2026, Surtain, who is coming off his fourth straight Pro Bowl season, will probably again be one of the biggest reasons why.
