Michael Burton
Michael Burton Re-ups with Denver
Thu, Mar 27, 2025, 11:59 AM
The Broncos re-signed Burton on Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Burton suited up for all 17 regular-season games with Denver in 2024, mostly working in a special-teams role while contributing occasionally as a blocker on offense. He totaled seven carries for eight yards and a touchdown on the year, while also securing all 10 of his targets for 65 yards and an additional score. He'll spend the offseason competing to again secure the team's top fullback spot.
Evan Engram
Evan Engram Catches on with Denver
Wed, Mar 12, 2025, 3:18 PM
Engram (shoulder) agreed to a two-year contract with the Broncos on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Jaguars released Engram in early March, about 11 weeks after he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He may not practice this spring but should be ready by Week 1, at which point he'll be 31 years old and taking over as the top pass-catching tight end in an offense that sent just 13.1 percent of its targets to the position in 2024, the second-lowest rate in the league. That number will rise considerably if Engram stays relatively healthy, although he's unlikely to match his per-game volume from the past two seasons in Jacksonville, when injuries to Christian Kirk and other wideouts forced extra targets in the tight end's direction.
Trent Sherfield
Trent Sherfield Headed to Denver
Tue, Mar 11, 2025, 7:16 PM
Sherfield is slated to sign a two-year contract with the Broncos, per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.
Analysis: Sherfield is headed to Denver after having caught just eight passes for 83 yards and one touchdown with the Vikings during the 2024 campaign. He could have the chance to compete for one of the top receiver spots opposite Courtland Sutton and can add value on special teams as well.
Jarrett Stidham
Jarrett Stidham Staying in Denver
Sun, Mar 9, 2025, 6:27 PM
Stidham and the Broncos agreed on a two-year, $12 million contract Sunday, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Stidham will stick around Denver after spending the last two seasons with the team, most recently operating as the top backup option behind Bo Nix in 2024. The 28-year-old did not attempt a pass this past season and he'll likely remain the No. 2 option again in 2025.
Lucas Krull
Lucas Krull Tendered by Denver
Tue, Mar 4, 2025, 11:06 PM
Krull was tendered by the Broncos on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Krull entered the offseason as an exclusive-rights free agent and he will now stick around Denver for a third season in 2025, earning $1.03 million. The tight end caught 19 of 23 targets for 152 yards in 2024 and he'll look to carve out a greater role for himself next season.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix Healthy after offseason surgery
Tue, Feb 25, 2025, 2:38 PM
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine that Nix has already resumed working out at team facilities without limitations after having undergone a procedure earlier this offseason, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: Nix's offseason surgery was unrelated to the back injury he dealt with during the 2024 season, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. As a rookie, the 2024 first-round pick impressed, completing 376 of 567 pass attempts (66 percent) for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while rushing 92 times for 430 yards and four touchdowns. Nix's impressive production on the ground helped bolster him into high-production territory for fantasy purposes, setting the stage for a potential step forward Year 2 as he grows more adept at commanding Payton's offense. The minor procedure Nix underwent after Denver's season ended caused him to miss the Pro Bowl, but he's already resumed working out without limitations and seems fully on track for the start of OTAs.
Adam Trautman
Adam Trautman Has quiet season
Mon, Feb 17, 2025, 1:12 PM
Trautman finished 2024 with 13 receptions (on 22 targets) for 188 yards and two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games.
Analysis: Trautman's 13 grabs this season marked a career low for the Dayton product, while his 22 targets, 188 yards and two touchdowns were his lowest totals since arriving in Denver. Despite being the Broncos' No. 1 tight end, the 27-year-old spent most of the season in a timeshare with Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins. Trautman will enter 2025 in the second year of the two-year contract he signed last March before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder likely will continue to play a similar role in head coach Sean Payton's system next season, severely limiting his fantasy potential once again.
Michael Burton
Michael Burton Career-high 10 catches in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 9:43 AM
Burton played in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with seven carries for eight yards and a touchdown while catching 10 passes on as many targets for 65 yards and a score.
Analysis: Burton didn't make the Broncos' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he was eventually signed to the active roster in mid-September after initially staying on the practice squad. He mostly served in a special teams role and didn't play more than 13 offensive snaps in all but one regular-season game (Week 18 against the Chiefs; 24 snaps on offense). On offense he was mostly used as an extra blocker in the running game, though he did manage to register a career-high 10 catches, three of which came in Week 16 against the Chargers when he also caught a one-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix. Burton will explore his options during the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
Blake Watson
Blake Watson Accumulates 23 yards in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 9:32 AM
Watson logged four carries for 10 yards and added one catch (on two targets) for 13 yards across two regular-season games in 2024.
Analysis: The Broncos signed Watson as an undrafted free agent in late April. He earned a spot on the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he was waived in mid-October after being a healthy scratch in five of Denver's first six regular-season games. He opted to stick around on the practice squad and was elevated to the active roster for Week 16 against the Chargers. Watson will be on the Broncos' 90-man roster when the new league year begins March 12 and will look to earn a rotational spot in the backfield for the 2025 campaign.
Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson Doesn't play in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 9:27 AM
Wilson did not appear in a single regular-season game in 2024.
Analysis: Wilson spent the past three seasons with the Jets, who selected him with the second-overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Broncos in late-April and was given a chance to earn the starting quarterback job in training camp, which he and Jarrett Stidham eventually lost to rookie Bo Nix. Wilson served as the Broncos' emergency quarterback and did not see the field during the regular season and in Denver's lone playoff game against Buffalo. The Broncos opted to decline Wilson's team option for 2025, which means he will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, though he'll likely end up serving as the No. 2 quarterback at best wherever he ends up signing.
Jarrett Stidham
Jarrett Stidham Logs four rushes in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 9:19 AM
Stidham did not attempt a throw across four regular-season games in 2024 but did register four carries for five yards.
Analysis: Stidham spent the entire 2024 campaign as the Broncos' backup quarterback after losing out to Bo Nix for the starting job during training camp. All of his appearances came in relief and the most snaps he played was in Week 18 against the Chiefs (nine). Stidham is an unrestricted free agent and will likely serve as the QB2 wherever he ends up signing.
Michael Bandy
Michael Bandy Re-signs with Denver
Wed, Jan 15, 2025, 4:34 PM
The Broncos signed Bandy to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: The wide receiver from San Diego spent his 2024 campaign with the Broncos' practice squad and will now remain in Denver after inking a reserve/future contract with the team Wednesday. Bandy's most recent NFL action came with the Broncos in 2023, failing to record a stat across 10 total snaps (two offensive and eight on special teams) in one appearance. He's expected to compete for a depth role in Denver's wide receiver corps this summer.
Devaughn Vele
Devaughn Vele Held catchless in playoff debut
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 10:19 AM
Vele failed to secure either of his two targets in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Vele failed to record a single catch for just the second time this season while playing just 22 of the Broncos 42 offensive snaps against this Bills, his lowest snap total of the campaign. Despite the rough ending, the wideout turned in a solid rookie season. Vele finished the year with 41 receptions on 55 targets for 475 yards and three touchdowns across 13 games. The 27-year-old should continue to develop in head coach Sean Payton's system while potentially earning an even larger role in the Broncos' passing attack in 2025.
Jaleel McLaughlin
Jaleel McLaughlin Non-factor against Bills
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 9:17 AM
McLaughlin rushed twice for minus-two yards and secured his lone target for zero yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card loss to the Bills.
Analysis: McLaughlin was not a big part of the game plan Sunday, playing just eight of the Broncos 42 offensive snaps in the contest behind teammate Javonte Williams (31) and ahead of Tyler Badie (3). The 24-year-old running back finished the 2024 regular season with 113 carries for 496 yards and one touchdown, a 24-76-2 receiving line on 27 targets and one lost fumble across 16 games. McLaughlin's carry total and rushing yards set career highs in both categories, as he saw his involvement in the ground game increase in his sophomore season. The Youngstown State product will enter his third season in 2025 with the opportunity to take a step forward in the offense. Williams will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so his possible departure could open things up for McLaughlin to step into a larger role in Denver's backfield. With that said, he'll likely continue to face competition from Audric Estime, Badie and any other running back who could be added through free agency or the draft.
Audric Estime
Audric Estime Mixed results in rookie season
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 7:56 AM
Estime finished the 2024 regular season with 76 carries for 310 yards and two touchdowns while catching all five of his targets for 27 yards. He also committed two fumbles (one lost) across 13 games.
Analysis: Estime was inactive for the Broncos' wild-card loss to the Broncos, as Denver opted to go with a three-man running back rotation of Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie. The 21-year-old Estime was stuck in a committee in his rookie campaign, unable to separate himself as the go-to option in the Denver backfield. With that said, the Notre Dame product showed flashes in his limited opportunities throughout the season, so his continued development may help him attain a more secure role in his sophomore campaign. Williams could be in a new locale in 2025, as the veteran is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. His potential departure would leave Estime, McLaughlin and Badie competing to be Denver's lead back. It's also possible the Broncos will address the position in free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft.
A.T. Perry
A.T. Perry Staying in Denver
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 6:15 PM
The Broncos signed Perry to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Perry made the Saints' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he didn't play due to various injuries before being waived by New Orleans in early October. He was signed to the Broncos' practice squad Oct. 8, but he wasn't elevated to Denver's active roster during the regular season. The 2023 sixth-rounder out of Wake Forest will participate in OTAs and training camp with the Broncos and work to earn a spot on the active roster for the 2025 campaign.
Tyler Badie
Tyler Badie Two carries in wild-card loss
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 2:08 PM
Badie rushed twice for eight yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Badie played just three of the Broncos' 42 offensive snaps in his first game back from a long stint on injured reserve due to a back injury suffered in Week 4. The 24-year-old running back missed the remainder of the regular season, finishing the year with just 11 carries for 86 yards while catching all three of his targets for minus-2 yards. Badie also lost one fumble in his three games played. The Missouri product remains under contract for the 2025 season, and he'll likely compete with fellow running backs Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime next season while Javonte Williams could be headed out of Denver as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Broncos could, however, choose to sign a free-agent running back this offseason or address the position in the draft, adding more competition ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin Hauls in long TD in wild-card loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 5:12 PM
Franklin caught two of three targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The rookie wideout got behind the Buffalo secondary for a 43-yard score on Denver's first possession, but it proved to be the only points the visitors would manage to produce. Franklin came into the NFL with more intrigue than a typical fourth-round pick given that he was reuniting with his college QB, but while Bo Nix thrived in his debut campaign, his top target at Oregon had trouble gaining separation against pro defenders. Sunday's long TD offered a reminder of Franklin's potential, but even if the young WR heads into training camp physically ready for a Year 2 breakout -- he doesn't turn 22 until early February -- target volume could still be hard to come by as the No. 3 or No. 4 option in the passing game.
Marvin Mims
Marvin Mims Quiet in playoff debut
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 5:00 PM
Mims caught two of four targets for 12 yards and gained an additional rushing yard on two carries in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: After finishing the regular season with four TDs over the last two games, Mims wasn't able to get free against a stingy Buffalo secondary. The 2023 second-round pick was looking like he might be little more than a return specialist in the NFL until he caught fire down the stretch this year, posting a 28-434-6 line on 33 targets over his final seven regular-season contests and flashing some intriguing chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix. Mims will likely land on a lot of sleeper lists heading into 2025 fantasy drafts.
Courtland Sutton
Courtland Sutton Leading receiver in wild-card loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 4:53 PM
Sutton caught five of nine targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The veteran wideout led the Broncos in catches, targets and receiving yards, although it was Troy Franklin who was on the other end of rookie QB Bo Nix's only TD pass Sunday. Sutton put together arguably the best campaign of his career in 2024, hauling in a career-high 81 passes for 1,081 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns over 17 regular-season contests, and his per-game averages soared in the second half of the year (60-804-6 over his last 10 games) once he developed stronger chemistry with Nix. Sutton is under contract for one more year, and assuming he returns to Denver in 2025, his big finish will put him in high demand at the fantasy draft table.
