Michael Bandy
Michael Bandy Re-signs with Denver
Wed, Jan 15, 2025, 4:34 PM
The Broncos signed Bandy to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: The wide receiver from San Diego spent his 2024 campaign with the Broncos' practice squad and will now remain in Denver after inking a reserve/future contract with the team Wednesday. Bandy's most recent NFL action came with the Broncos in 2023, failing to record a stat across 10 total snaps (two offensive and eight on special teams) in one appearance. He's expected to compete for a depth role in Denver's wide receiver corps this summer.
Devaughn Vele
Devaughn Vele Held catchless in playoff debut
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 10:19 AM
Vele failed to secure either of his two targets in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Vele failed to record a single catch for just the second time this season while playing just 22 of the Broncos 42 offensive snaps against this Bills, his lowest snap total of the campaign. Despite the rough ending, the wideout turned in a solid rookie season. Vele finished the year with 41 receptions on 55 targets for 475 yards and three touchdowns across 13 games. The 27-year-old should continue to develop in head coach Sean Payton's system while potentially earning an even larger role in the Broncos' passing attack in 2025.
Jaleel McLaughlin
Jaleel McLaughlin Non-factor against Bills
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 9:17 AM
McLaughlin rushed twice for minus-two yards and secured his lone target for zero yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card loss to the Bills.
Analysis: McLaughlin was not a big part of the game plan Sunday, playing just eight of the Broncos 42 offensive snaps in the contest behind teammate Javonte Williams (31) and ahead of Tyler Badie (3). The 24-year-old running back finished the 2024 regular season with 113 carries for 496 yards and one touchdown, a 24-76-2 receiving line on 27 targets and one lost fumble across 16 games. McLaughlin's carry total and rushing yards set career highs in both categories, as he saw his involvement in the ground game increase in his sophomore season. The Youngstown State product will enter his third season in 2025 with the opportunity to take a step forward in the offense. Williams will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so his possible departure could open things up for McLaughlin to step into a larger role in Denver's backfield. With that said, he'll likely continue to face competition from Audric Estime, Badie and any other running back who could be added through free agency or the draft.
Audric Estime
Audric Estime Mixed results in rookie season
Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 7:56 AM
Estime finished the 2024 regular season with 76 carries for 310 yards and two touchdowns while catching all five of his targets for 27 yards. He also committed two fumbles (one lost) across 13 games.
Analysis: Estime was inactive for the Broncos' wild-card loss to the Broncos, as Denver opted to go with a three-man running back rotation of Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie. The 21-year-old Estime was stuck in a committee in his rookie campaign, unable to separate himself as the go-to option in the Denver backfield. With that said, the Notre Dame product showed flashes in his limited opportunities throughout the season, so his continued development may help him attain a more secure role in his sophomore campaign. Williams could be in a new locale in 2025, as the veteran is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. His potential departure would leave Estime, McLaughlin and Badie competing to be Denver's lead back. It's also possible the Broncos will address the position in free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft.
A.T. Perry
A.T. Perry Staying in Denver
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 6:15 PM
The Broncos signed Perry to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Perry made the Saints' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he didn't play due to various injuries before being waived by New Orleans in early October. He was signed to the Broncos' practice squad Oct. 8, but he wasn't elevated to Denver's active roster during the regular season. The 2023 sixth-rounder out of Wake Forest will participate in OTAs and training camp with the Broncos and work to earn a spot on the active roster for the 2025 campaign.
Tyler Badie
Tyler Badie Two carries in wild-card loss
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 2:08 PM
Badie rushed twice for eight yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Badie played just three of the Broncos' 42 offensive snaps in his first game back from a long stint on injured reserve due to a back injury suffered in Week 4. The 24-year-old running back missed the remainder of the regular season, finishing the year with just 11 carries for 86 yards while catching all three of his targets for minus-2 yards. Badie also lost one fumble in his three games played. The Missouri product remains under contract for the 2025 season, and he'll likely compete with fellow running backs Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime next season while Javonte Williams could be headed out of Denver as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Broncos could, however, choose to sign a free-agent running back this offseason or address the position in the draft, adding more competition ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin Hauls in long TD in wild-card loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 5:12 PM
Franklin caught two of three targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The rookie wideout got behind the Buffalo secondary for a 43-yard score on Denver's first possession, but it proved to be the only points the visitors would manage to produce. Franklin came into the NFL with more intrigue than a typical fourth-round pick given that he was reuniting with his college QB, but while Bo Nix thrived in his debut campaign, his top target at Oregon had trouble gaining separation against pro defenders. Sunday's long TD offered a reminder of Franklin's potential, but even if the young WR heads into training camp physically ready for a Year 2 breakout -- he doesn't turn 22 until early February -- target volume could still be hard to come by as the No. 3 or No. 4 option in the passing game.
Marvin Mims
Marvin Mims Quiet in playoff debut
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 5:00 PM
Mims caught two of four targets for 12 yards and gained an additional rushing yard on two carries in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: After finishing the regular season with four TDs over the last two games, Mims wasn't able to get free against a stingy Buffalo secondary. The 2023 second-round pick was looking like he might be little more than a return specialist in the NFL until he caught fire down the stretch this year, posting a 28-434-6 line on 33 targets over his final seven regular-season contests and flashing some intriguing chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix. Mims will likely land on a lot of sleeper lists heading into 2025 fantasy drafts.
Courtland Sutton
Courtland Sutton Leading receiver in wild-card loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 4:53 PM
Sutton caught five of nine targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The veteran wideout led the Broncos in catches, targets and receiving yards, although it was Troy Franklin who was on the other end of rookie QB Bo Nix's only TD pass Sunday. Sutton put together arguably the best campaign of his career in 2024, hauling in a career-high 81 passes for 1,081 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns over 17 regular-season contests, and his per-game averages soared in the second half of the year (60-804-6 over his last 10 games) once he developed stronger chemistry with Nix. Sutton is under contract for one more year, and assuming he returns to Denver in 2025, his big finish will put him in high demand at the fantasy draft table.
Javonte Williams
Javonte Williams Nine touches in playoff loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 4:46 PM
Williams carried the ball seven times for 29 yards and caught both his targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: He led all Broncos running backs in touches plus rushing and scrimmage yards, but QB Bo Nix paced the whole team in rushing yards with 43. Williams will reach free agency this offseason, but his market could be flimsy after he managed just 513 rushing yards on 139 carries for a 3.7 YPC with four TDs over 17 regular-season appearances. The 2021 second-round pick did have a career-best year as a pass catcher though, hauling in 52 of 70 targets for 346 yards, and he could find a role as a third-down option in 2025. The explosiveness he showed in college and over his first 21 NFL games before suffering a serious knee injury seems unlikely to return, however.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix Held in check in wild-card loss
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 4:38 PM
Nix completed 13 of 22 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown and added a team-high 43 rushing yards on four carries in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The rookie quarterback came out of the gates firing, connecting with Troy Franklin on a 43-yard TD on Denver's first possession, but the game was dominated by Buffalo after that. Nix wrapped up a successful first pro season with 3,775 passing yards, a 66.3 percent completion rate and a 29:12 TD:INT over 17 regular-season appearances, while also contributing 430 rushing yards and four more scores on the ground. The Broncos appear to have found their new franchise QB with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with Courtland Sutton, Franklin and Marvin Mims forming a intriguing trio of wideouts all under contract for 2025, Nix's numbers figure to improve as he grows more familiar with Sean Payton's offense.
Tyler Badie
Tyler Badie Active versus Bills
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 10:43 AM
Badie (back) is active for Sunday's wild-card round game against the Bills.
Analysis: Badie, who landed on IR after suffering an injury during Week 4 action, was activated by the Broncos on Saturday and is thus set to provide postseason depth in a backfield that also includes Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin. With Badie back in the mix versus Buffalo, RBs Audric Estime and Blake Watson were made inactive by Denver in the team's postseason opener.
Audric Estime
Audric Estime Inactive for wild-card round
Sun, Jan 12, 2025, 10:43 AM
Estime (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's AFC wild-card game against the Bills.
Analysis: Estime's inactive status comes as a bit of a surprise considering he recorded at least nine touches in each of the final three games of the regular season and has contributed on special teams. However, Estime will be the odd man out of the Broncos' backfield due to Tyler Badie (back) returning from injured reserve. Denver will go with a three-man backfield of Jaleel McLaughlin, Javonte Williams and Badie for Sunday's playoff game.
Tyler Badie
Tyler Badie Activated from injured reserve
Sat, Jan 11, 2025, 4:03 PM
The Broncos activated Badie (back) from injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Badie has been on injured reserve since early October due to a back injury that he suffered in Week 4 against the Jets. He's still listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC wild-card game against the Bills, but he should be able to play given his full practice participation throughout the week and his activation off IR. If he is active, Badie will join a crowded Broncos backfield consisting of Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Javonte Williams and Blake Watson.
Tyler Badie
Tyler Badie Questionable to face Bills
Fri, Jan 10, 2025, 4:04 PM
Badie (back), who remains on IR, is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's road AFC wild-card round game against the Bills, Susanna Weir of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Badie logged a trio of full practices this week, but he'll need to be officially brought off IR by Saturday's deadline in order to be eligible to play Sunday. If cleared to face Buffalo, Badie will figure to handle a depth role in Denver's backfield, which already houses Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Javonte Williams and Blake Watson.
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin Scores two touchdowns in 2024
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 10:21 AM
Franklin finished the 2024 regular season with 28 receptions on 53 targets for 263 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Franklin's rookie campaign was relatively quiet, as the Oregon product played just 365 offensive snaps across the 16 games he appeared in. Filling the No. 4 receiver role, the 21-year-old played over 50 percent of snaps in a contest just once this season. Franklin's limited role and lack of experience certainly capped his potential this season, but his continued development should be a positive sign for the fourth-round pick. Additionally, quarterback Bo Nix has played well as a rookie and should continue to develop alongside Franklin, his college teammate. With more experience, Franklin could see his role increase in 2025 as a member of Denver's young receiving corps.
Lil'Jordan Humphrey
Lil'Jordan Humphrey Finishes second season in Denver
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 10:02 AM
Humphrey ended the 2024 regular season with 31 receptions on 45 targets for 293 yards and a touchdown across 17 games.
Analysis: Humphrey recorded career highs in catches, targets and yards during the 2024 campaign while appearing in all 17 games for the second straight season. With that said, the veteran wideout was not a major part of the Broncos' offensive plans this season, operating in a depth role behind Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin. Humphrey will head into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but its possible his long-standing connection with head coach Sean Payton could help him to get another contract offer from the Broncos if he doesn't land with a new team in 2025.
Nate Adkins
Nate Adkins Scores three touchdowns in 2024
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 9:26 AM
Adkins finished the 2024 campaign with 14 catches on 15 targets for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: Adkins appeared in all 17 games of the 2024 campaign after playing in just 10 games as a rookie in 2023. The 25-year-old tight end's three trips to the end zone ranked him third in receiving touchdowns for the Broncos, behind wide receivers Courtland Sutton (eight) and Marvin Mims (six) and tied with wideout Devaughn Vele. Adkins did not have a major role in the offense throughout the season, failing to catch more than one pass in all but two games. The South Carolina product remains under contract for the 2025 season before coming a restricted free agent in 2026.
Lucas Krull
Lucas Krull Records 19 grabs in regular season
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 7:51 AM
Krull finished the 2024 season with 19 catches on 23 targets for 152 yards and no touchdowns.
Analysis: Krull played 13 games in the 2024 campaign after appearing in just seven games in 2023. The 26-year-old tight end recorded career highs in catches, targets and yards this season while splitting playing time with fellow tight ends Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins. Krull paced the group in receptions and targets, as he became more involved in Denver's offense in his second season with the Broncos. The Pittsburgh product will enter this offseason as an exclusive-rights free agent, giving the Broncos the ability to retain Krull as long as they offer him at least a one-year, league-minimum contract. Either way, Krull will look to take a step forward after gaining more experience this season.
Adam Trautman
Adam Trautman Finishes quiet regular season
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 7:35 AM
Trautman finished the 2024 season with 13 receptions on 22 targets for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Trautman's 13 grabs this season marked a career low for the veteran tight end, while his 22 targets, 188 yards and two touchdowns were his lowest totals as a Bronco. Despite being the Broncos No. 1 tight end, the 27-year-old found himself in a timeshare with Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins for most of the season. Trautman will enter 2025 in the second year of the two-year contract he signed last March before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder will likely continue to play a similar role in head coach Sean Payton's system during the upcoming postseason and next season, limiting his fantasy potential once again.
